
John M. Onufrak, D.M.D.
Dr. Onufrak is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Newark.
After graduating UMDNJ, Dr. Onufrak did a GENERAL PRACTICE RESIDENCY at The Albany Medical Center; Albany, New York. He then completed a PROSTHODONTICS RESIDENCY at the University of Rochester's Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. Following this, he did an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Louisiana State University / Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then took a second internship / clinical professorship position at the Medical College of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University; Richmond, Virginia in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He then started his ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY RESIDENCY at The MetroHealth Medical Center; Cleveland, Ohio and completed his requirements in ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY at the University of Nebraska Medical Center; Omaha, Nebraska.
Note: Dr. Onufrak does not call himself either an Oral and maxillofacial surgeon nor a Prosthodontist despite his having been trained in both of these fields of dentistry.
He is affiliated with the following organizations: American Dental Association, Greater Cleveland Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, member candidate for The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Society of Dentistry for Children, Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Prosthodontists, International College of Prosthodontists, American Society of Forensic Odontology, Academy of Osseointegration, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, United States Amateur Boxing Federation, The American College of Oral Implantology, and The International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
While an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident, he served on the executive committee of the Residents Organization of The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ROAAOMS) as District IV delegate for his first two years, followed by Vice Chairman in his third year and making Chairman during his Chief year of residency 2000-2001.
While at MetroHealth Medical Center, he served as the Social Chairman for the Resident Organization from 1997-2000.
He served on the editorial board of NOVICOM, INC. Dental Surgery Products from 1997-1999. He was a volunteer "docent" at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE is currently a "DOCENT" at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, OH, completely trained in all educational animal handling, including mammals,reptiles, and birds - specifically parrots and owls.
In addition, Dr. Onufrak rescues animals, from those who neglect them, specifically parrots of many species. He recently adopted an abused Great Pyrenees dog -Adam - who is now in a loving home and doing wonderful. His picture may be seen below.
Dr. Onufrak is involved in his church St. Peter The Apostle as both an instructor for R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and a Eucharistic Minister.
He has completed all courses in surgical and restorative phases of all implant systems on the market currently. In addition, Dr. Onufrak is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at The Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
